Got wind? Got Hydropower? Got Geothermal power?

With the cost of electricity going up every year many homeowners are searching for cheaper, efficient, more environmentally safe ways to power up their gadgets. We encourage everyone to post their opinions, stories, on alternative energy.

  1. Great alternative energy is more available and do able than most think. Homeade windmills and solar panels are easy and cheap to build.

  6. I prefer gas all these tree huggers need to understand we have been told for years theres a gas shortage since I was a child. Remember this? All of sudden it was no longer an issue. Maybe if we start drilling off the coast of florida where China is drilling we wont have this problem. The amount of CO2 emissions that are going to be produced by developing these new vehicles and technologies is going to cause just as much harm if not more to the enviroment. One way or another the energy will be needed to manufacture these vehicles wether its from nuclear power plants, coal plants etc..

  7. In the long run we would produce less carbon footprints with the new technologies, however, you are right for the short term, there will be a rise in the co2 emissions, but not by much, considering the amount of old technologies we use today by far exceed the footprint difference it would take to produce cleaner technologies. One example is future electric and hydrogen cars will not require oil, this eliminates oil spills in our oceans and our water supply not including the gas spills from old station tanks and the threat of fire from the gasoline used, also think of the pollution gas and oil producers produce from burning off excess gas at the refinery, and the fuel it takes to deliver it and the wear and tear it puts on our roads which use fuel and oil for repairs. Add up the facts, The new technology will by far be cleaner. And I know it takes fuel to charge a car, But wind and solar can be supplemented to make up for a portion of the usageif not all in some cases. What I do have a problem with is when people tear out the old stuff from a house just to put in GREEN stuff. They dont think!! The old stuff fills up landfills and uses fuel to remove the debris. NOT VERY GREEN in my opinion.
